Caledonian Celebrant Terms and Conditions for Legal Wedding Ceremony Bookings:

This contract is issued by Caledonian Celebrant and is an agreement between Laura Gordon, Caledonian Celebrant and the Couple.

Responsibilities Of the Marriage Celebrant

1. Laura Gordon will provide a professional service at all times, ensuring that the ceremony is written and conducted in a dignified, meaningful and personal manner. Laura Gordon will ensure that she follows the Open Beliefs Scotland code of conduct.

Laura Gordon is authorised by the Registrar General and National Records of Scotland to solemnise marriages in Scotland and all marriages solemised by Laura Gordon are legally binding and recognised.

2. Laura Gordon will ensure that the marriage is solemnised in accordance with the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977 and in a location that is safe and dignified.

3. Laura Gordon will ensure that the authorised marriage takes place on the date and and in the place specified on the marriage schedule issued by the Registrar.

4. Laura Gordon is legally required to obtain and verify the marriage schedule before the ceremony commences.

5. Laura Gordon will ensure the marriage schedule is signed correctly by the couple and witnesses in permanent black liquid ink.

6. Laura Gordon will ensure that any amendments to the marriage schedule are made and initialed in permanent liquid black ink, with the exception of the date and place of the ceremony, which cannot be altered without permission from the Registrar.

7. In the unlikely event that Laura Gordon becomes unavailable for the ceremony, she will ensure that a legally authorised marriage celebrant replaces her for the ceremony.

Responsibilities Of The Couple

1. It is the responsibility of the couple to contact the relevant Registrar, in the district where the marriage is to take place, at least 10-12 weeks before the date of the wedding and no later than 29 days prior, to submit the Marriage Notice forms (M10) and required identification. If either partner is not a British citizen, the couple are responsible for ensuring that the correct documentation is provided in order to be legally married in Scotland.

2. It is the responsibility of the couple to inform the Registrar that the marriage will be solemnised by Laura Gordon, Marriage Celebrant, Open Beliefs Scotland by completing Section F of the M10 form. In addition to the agreed costs for Laura Gordon, the statutory fees must be paid to the Registrar by the couple.

3. It is the responsibility of the couple to collect the marriage schedule from the Registrar during the week prior to the ceremony, and to deliver the schedule to Laura Gordon on the day of the ceremony. The ceremony cannot be legally conducted without the schedule.

5. It is the responsibility of the couple to inform the Registrar and Laura Gordon, in advance, if there is any possibility of the ceremony not taking place on the date or in the place specified.

6. It is the responsibility of the couple to safeguard the schedule following the ceremony and to return it to the Registrar within 3 days of the ceremony taking place, so that the marriage can be legally registered.

7. It is the responsibility of the couple to pay the agreed deposit for the ceremony of £200, £100 of which is non-returnable and the remaining £100 is refundable until 90 days prior to the ceremony. Any cancellations following the 90 days agreed period will result in loss of £200 deposit and any cancellations under 30 days prior to the ceremony will require full payment of the agreed costs.

Terms and Conditions for other ceremony bookings

This contract is issued by Laura Gordon, Caledonian Celebrant is an agreement between Laura Gordon and the client.

Responsibilities of the Celebrant

1. Laura Gordon will provide a professional service at all times, ensuring that the ceremony is dignified, meaningful, and personal.

2. Laura Gordon will ensure that she follows the Open Beliefs Scotland code of conduct.

3. Laura Gordon will ensure that the ceremony takes place on the date and in the place specified by the client.

4. In the unlikely event that Laura Gordon becomes unavailable for the ceremony, she will ensure another celebrant or officiant takes her place.

Responsibilities of The Client

1. It is the client’s responsibility to advise Laura Gordon, in advance, if there is any possibility of the ceremony not taking place on the date or in the place specified.

Right to cancel

You have the right to cancel this contract with Laura Gordon, Caledonian Celebrant within 14 days without giving any reason.

The cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the date of the agreement and conclusion of the contract.

To exercise the right to cancel, you must inform Laura Gordon, Caledonian Celebrant of your decision to cancel this contract by a clear statement via e-mail. Please send cancellation notice to caledonian-celebrant@live.co.uk

To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.

You may cancel at any time, after 14 days, by giving written notice.

Cancellations less than 90 days prior to the ceremony will result in the loss of the £200 deposit and cancellations less than 30 days prior to the ceremony will require full payment of the agreed costs for the ceremony. If the ceremony has been postponed to a later date the 12-week cancellation policy will apply from the original ceremony date.

If you need to postpone your ceremony, Laura Gordon, Caledonian Celebrant will honour the new date, or if she is unavailable she will try to find a suitable celebrant to replace her.
